DONEMANA’S flying start to the season continued last weekend as they beat both Bonds Glen and the elements to put themselves in pole position in Group One of the T20 Championship.
The game nearly became the fifth casualty of the weather, having been originally called off before an about turn allowed the game to proceed. A century stand between new skipper William McClintock and twin brother Gary blew away their hosts as sixes galore saw Donemana post 217. William hit four in his 55, but Gary stole the show with 11
in his 87, and he and Sam Huey then grabbed four wickets apiece in an emphatic 124-run win.
It’s been a whirlwind start for William, who took over the reins from Andrew Riddles as The Holm side look to regain the senior cup, having won the famous trophy an incredible six times in succession between 2012 and 2017. The McClintock twins were part of all that success, having tasted their first glory as 15 year-olds. Captain William has
been pleased with the way his side have responded to the delayed campaign.
“It’s a good start for us and although our opposition hasn’t been really tough, it’s great to get a few cobwebs blown off by getting out there into the middle.
“It’s also a bonus that Gary has decided to play. That is a huge boost to us as a team and it’s great to have him on board.”
