Exciting league finale at Ecclesville

THE final of the second of Ecclesville’s Showjumping Leagues for 2020 was very competitive.

With the Super League underway the top six in each class also won valuable points, as at the end of 2020, in each class from 60cm through to 1.10cm, a perpetual trophy will be awarded to rider and horse combination with the most points.

The evening got off to a brilliant start with 15 young riders, the youngest of which was 2-year-old Lillian Stockdale, sharing the top spot in the very popular 40cm class.

The competitors then had to be both careful and speedy to negotiate Raymond Caldwell’s challenging courses as the clock was to decide the winners in each class!  The 60cm class was won by Lillian’s cousin, Elizabeth Millar on the very careful Grace, she was very closely followed by Annie Kelly on her lovely pony, Gingersnap.

The 70cm class was extremely competitive with 14 young competitors jumping off for the prizes. The very speedy combination of Cara Garrity and Louie were delighted to claim the winning rosette!

The 80cm red ribbon went to local girl, Zoe Keys riding her very talented pony, Dougal Martin. In the 90cm class Jordana Mitchell and Rosie proved to be a class act and picked up the first place rosette.

The final two classes of the evening saw Fermanagh girl Shauneen Gallagher and Lizzie picking up first place in the 1m class and the 1.10 class went to another Fermanagh girl, Hannah Thompson and Bruno.

The Super League for 2020 is looking very interesting after just two Leagues and with several new combinations in the mix the leader-board has been given a good shake up!

The organisers would like to take this opportunity thank all the competitors who supported this league. Also sincere thanks to Raymond Caldwell, Course Builder, assisted by Malvern Moore and to Jennifer Leonard who assisted in the Judges box.
