TWO Omagh Motor Club committee members were recently recognised for their contribution to motorsport by the sport’s governing body, Motorsport UK.
Clady’s Niall McGonigle won one of the Volunteer of the Year categories, having only joined the club’s committee in 2018. This is a major accolade considering that nominations were received from all over the UK and is testament to the level of work and commitment put into the club by Niall.
Niall is no stranger to the sport, having grown up in a rallying family to becoming a competitor, and now being the main driving force behind the Samsonas Rally, Fivemiletown, which takes place next Saturday, February 22nd.
Kevin Lynam was awarded second place in the Marshal of the Year category. Again, Kevin is a familiar face on the rally stages having been involved in the sport for over 20 years.
Kevin is not only a competitor but also contributes vastly to the running of Omagh Motor Club events and other local club’s rallies. Kevin has undertaken the role of Chief Marshal and Stage Commander on many occasions as well as being a member of the radio communications team for the sport.
Derek Graham from Omagh Motor Club and local rally photographer Mark McCullagh also got certificates of recognition for their contribution under the categories of Safety and Media.
