“It’s a competition we were meant to go to before lockdown but then it was cancelled so it been rescheduled,” said Darren.

“It’s a test of your overall capacity in fitness and Damon and I have partnered for it. The competition runs annually and attracts all the top athletes. It’s become a bit of a sport in itself. I suppose all gym goers nowadays need something to push towards  and this is something they can do that’s not necessarily related to a particular sport.

“We have been competing against gyms locally and we thought we would give this a rattle to see how we get on.”

Competitions like this have become big business in the UK and Darren and Damon are relishing taking part in one of the biggest of its kind at Loughborough.
