Seven F&W teams into last-16 of Irish Junior Cup

Almost half the teams remaining in the fonaCAB Irish Junior Cup hail from the Fermanagh and Western League.

On Saturday seven F&W sides booked their place in the last-16 of the prestigious knockout tournament.

Holders Dergview Reserves defeated Mid Ulster opponents Ballyoran 3-2 with goals from Dylan Aiken, Alaaeddine Dhouioui and Sam Sproule while Gary McGuigan bagged a sparkling hat-trick as Tummery Athletic defeated Killymoon Rangers 4-2 in an all-Tyrone clash at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena.

Four times winners Enniskillen Rangers were 6-0 winners against All Saints OB with Mark Cutler netting twice in each half at the Ball Range. Joel Byrne and Jake Browne completed an impressive afternoon for Michael Kerr’s team.

Neighbours Enniskillen Town needed extra-time to defeat North West opponents Ardmore 2-1 at McCourt’s Field. A Jack Coyle penalty put the hosts in front but a spectacular Darren Freeman volley forced the game into over-time during which Conall Quinn scored a winning penalty with a dreaded shootout on the horizon.

NFC Kesh and Lisbellaw United both ran out 5-1 winners against Donemana and Dungiven respectively. Nathan Cashel (2), Ryan Campbell, Danny Wilson and Josh Flack were on target for Kesh while the Johnstons, Craig and Scott, Paul McGrath, Philip Beacom and Scott Moutray, netted for Kyle McCleery’s ‘Law.

Gary Maguire, Craig Humes (2) and Danny Hughes all found the net in Irvinestown Wanderers’ 4-3 win at Armagh Celtic while Dan McNulty bagged a brace of goals as 2022 winners Coalisland Athletic defeated Sion Swifts 2-1.

Unfortunately Castlederg United’s run came to an end when Dylan Russell’s team was defeated 2-1 at Lincoln Courts. Russell put United ahead but two Gareth Connor goals in quick succession secured safe passage for the home side.

The last-16 draw will take place next week.
