Sponsors making the difference for Smyth Racing

IF it wasn’t for their generous sponsors, Smyth Racing would be competing much closer to home and a lot less often.

 

Rather than preparing for a third season in the Bennett’s British Superbike Championship support classes and a first in the National 600 Superstock series, Aughnacloy rider Andrew Smyth would be having to make do with whatever rounds of the Ulster Superbike Championship are running in 2021.

 

“I know it’s a cliche but if it wasn’t for them then we definitely wouldn’t be happening. That’s the long and short of it,” explained Andrew’s dad, Kenny.

 

“To try to do it ourselves, we would be racing closer to home but without them we couldn’t afford to go across the water.

 

“And with there being so many back-to-back rounds this year, that support is definitely going to be valuable.”

 

With a generous group of sponsors behind him, 17-year-old Andrew is able to take his career onto the next level and compete against the best in the UK and beyond.

 

The support Smyth Racing has doesn’t come easy, however, as Kenny can confirm. It’s taken years of growing a thick skin for him to earn the backing of businesses, some of whom provide financial assistance, while other are ‘product sponsors’.

 

From bike components, to lubricants, clothing and even meals, Smyth Racing has a wide variety of backers, who are keen to help Andrew achieve his racing dreams.
