STRUGGLING Championship outfit Dergview have parted company with manager Emmet Friars.
Following a board meeting last evening, the north Tyrone club confirmed that the Derry man was leaving Darragh Park.
Former Derry City and Crusaders player Friars was appointed Derg supremo back in October following the departure of Tommy Canning.
Results had shown little improvement under Friars and it seems that Saturday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Ards proved the final straw.
That loss leaves Dergview five points behind Ards and favourites to finish in the relegation play-off spot with six games to play.
In a statement a club spokesman said, “Dergview Football Club has taken the decision to relieve first team manager Emmet Friars from his position.
“We wish to thank Emmet for his hard work, dedication and professionalism whilst in charge and wish him all the best for the future.”
Under Friars Dergview suffered 13 defeats in 21 league games and recorded just three victories against Newington, Ballinamallard United and Knockbreda.
