THE upcoming Ulster SFC final between Tyrone and Monaghan will be played at Croke Park on Saturday, July 31st at 4pm.
Last week, GAA president Larry McCarthy confirmed that Ulster GAA lodged a request to have the game moved to Headquarters for the first time since 2006, and it emerged this evening that the request has been granted.
Tyrone’s joint-manager Feargal Logan said he’d welcome such a move after his side’s 0-23 to 1-14 victory over Donegal yesterday, and supporters will no doubt recall Tyrone’s Ulster final saga against Armagh at Croke Park in 2005.
Croke Park was able to faciliate 18,000 spectators for the Leinster senior football semi-final double header at the weekend.
It remains to be seen how the tickets will be allocated for the Ulster final as the game will now be played on the same day as the Christy Ring, Nickey Rackard and Lory Meagher finals – games which are traditionally held at the Jones Road venue.
