After 110 years Omagh Golf Club has secured the return of one of its prestigious trophies.
The historic Omagh Golf Club Cup has returned to its original resting place after it had been discovered by a family in Annaghmore.
It was presented to Omagh Golf Club as the President’s Prize in 1911 by president at the time Captain Auchnileck and the winner that and only year was a James Niblock.
Club captain Frank McQuade said the club was continuing to research the jouney of the unique piece of silverware since its return.
“The people who had it said it belonged to an uncle of their’s who collected bits and pieces.
“We don’t know how it ended up in his hands but we have got it back now.,” said the captain.
Captain Auchinleck who was president at Omagh from 1910-1914 died in the First World War.
