We must up our game says Trillick skipper Gallagher

TRILLICK skipper Daire Gallagher says vast improvements are needed if they’re to get the better of Killyclogher in Friday night’s Senior Championship quarter-final clash at O’Neill’s Healy Park.

While they got the job done with a five-point win over Galbally in the first-round, it was by no means at entirely convincing performance from the 2019 champions.

Manager Nigel Seaney was obviously discontented with his side’s performance when speaking to the assembled media after the game, and captain Daire Gallagher was equally concerned by the relative flatness of their performance on the night.

That said, they’re a hugely experienced outfit and can call upon the experience of last year when taking on Killyclogher this weekend, having edged matters on penalties in a thrilling quarter-final clash late last August.

Speaking after the Galbally match, Gallagher said: “It was job done, but with an extreme amount to work on. We didn’t get through the gears as we’d have liked, but if you get past the first round of the championship, you can’t complain too much. But there’s still a lot of soul-searching we need to do to get ready for Killyclogher.”

“It’s the same across the board so you just have to prepare for the championship as best you can.”

Trillick have their sights firmly focused on Killyclogher, who qualified for the last eight with a hard-fought victory over Donaghmore. There was some cracking football played between the two sides in last year’s championship meeting, and Killyclogher will be eyeing up the possibility of revenge after losing on penalties.

“There’s a chance here to reach the semi-finals of the championship. Both teams are going to be hungry we’ll need a lot of improvement to get over the line. We’ll take a look at Killyclogher and assess how we can potential overcome them.

“We’ve played Killyclogher a lot over the last few years and we know the quality they have. They know a lot about us so we have to get our own house in order and hopefully we’ll make the improvements needed.”
