“BE yourself and don’t feel the need to change for anyone!” was the powerful message that the talented Year Seven classes of St Mary’s PS, Killyclogher brought to the stage when they performed the timeless story of Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ play recently.
Sweeping Tyrone audiences on a journey into an exotic world of daring adventure and classic comedy, the talented young cast took on the challenge of performing beloved songs from the film and Broadway musical, including ‘A Whole New World’ and the electrifying ‘Friend Like Me’.
Under the entertained eyes of the packed Cappagh Parish Hall, the pupils gave outstanding performances, delivering their lines with enthusiasm and singing their hearts out.
St Mary’s PS musical director and Year Seven teacher Maeve Kelly said that she ‘couldn’t be prouder’ of the outstanding pupils.
“Our young actors have all worked incredibly hard and performed their parts superbly,” she detailed.
Principal Carole McAuley said that the children’s performances on both nights were ‘met with lengthy standing ovations’, reflecting upon their ‘remarkable talent and dedication’.
“Our Year Seven cast delved into ‘a whole new world’ with their vibrant, energetic and exhilarating production of Disney’s ‘Aladdin’,” she beamed. “We are very lucky to have such talent among our pupils and staff to deliver this, and are grateful to have the help of Aisling O’Doherty of Aspire School of Speech and Drama, and Emmet Stewart of ES Creative to stage our productions.
“Audiences seemed to love the production’s unforgettable magic, comedy and spectacle!” she added.
