Former councillor says ‘thank you’ to cardiac units after heart surgery

A WELL-known former councillor in Omagh has donated £600 to cardiac units at two local hospitals as a heartfelt ‘thank you’ for the care he received whilst undergoing heart surgery.

Paddy McGowan and his wife Jean raised the money in lieu of presents for their 60th wedding anniversary.

Presenting the cheque to Western Health Trust staff, Mr McGowan wished to express his heartfelt gratitude for all the care he received during his stay in the cardiac assessment unit at Omagh Hospital, the cardiac ward at Altnagelvin Hospital and then the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Consultant cardiologist, Dr Paul McGlinchey, said, “Thank you very much Paddy and family for your kind gesture. This is very much appreciated and will benefit patients who receive treatment and care in the CAU here in Omagh Hospital and in Altnagelvin Hospital.”
