Too Cooley for schooley!

FROM balloons to bouncy castles, magic to mobile farms, the pupils of Cooley Primary School in Sixmilecross have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in an educational healthy lifestyle programme – and it concluded with a flurry of fun-filled festivities on Valentine’s Day!

Titled ‘Cooley Cool Kids Looking to Healthier Lifestyles’, the project gave all primary pupils the chance to take part in workshops which benefited with physical and mental health, including ‘Little Healthy Me’ for years one-to-four; ‘Healthy Me’ for years five-to-six; and ‘Healthy Hero’, for year sevens.

All pupils were also treated to a series of tennis lessons in the autumn term, and have just finished participating in gymnastics sessions, which were facilitated by qualified coaches.

And to draw the project to a close, a very special celebration packed full of awesome activities was held at the school – which garnered smiles all-round!

Ryan Tracey, of Duff Balloons, who shot to fame on popular TV show, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, was ‘bursting’ with fun, as presented his balloon modelling skills and magic tricks to his spellbound audience, while bouncy castles kept kids lively, and a visit from Corbally Mobile Fun Farm meant that pupils were able to get up close and friendly with a beautiful variety of rare and exotic animals.

Children also enjoyed a Valentine’s Day-themed break, provided by the school kitchen, and a delicious ice-cream treat from Ken’s Super Whip.

Delighted school principal, Karen Atchison, said the school was ‘overjoyed’ to receive funding for the project, which ‘greatly benefited the pupils’ physical and mental health’.

“The the celebration day was a great finale to the programme,” she said. “It was much enjoyed by all.”
