MEMBERS of Bready Cricket Club have been awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The prestigious honour is one of the highest awards a voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an individual MBE.
The award was presented to the club by Lord Lieutenant of Tyrone Robert Scott during the club’s recent Family Fun Day and BBQ.
A spokesperson for the club said: “The day we received the award will live long in the memory of everyone associated with Bready Cricket Club.
“This prestigious honour – the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK – is a testament to the dedication, passion and community spirit of all our volunteers, past and present.
“As our chairperson Norman Allen reflected in his speech, this award is accepted on behalf of everyone who has contributed in any way since the club’s founding in 1938.
“We are proud to honour that legacy and remain committed to providing opportunities, facilities and support for both our local and wider community.”
