Join walking group for friendship and fun

HAVING enjoyed a good rest over the Christmas break, ‘Friends of the Glens’ walking group are proud to announce that their ‘Walk and Talk Winter Walks’ are back – and all new members are welcome to come along for the friendship, fun… and outdoor frolicking!

Taking place at Gortin Glens Forest Park, the series of winter walks started up again on Saturday, and the events will continue to run weekly up until February 11.

Sean Harpur of Friends of the Glens has encouraged any interested walkers to take part.

“Everyone enjoyed our first dander of 2023,” he said.

“It was a two-hour guided walk on the forest trails, and we had 43 walkers in attendance.

“We all enjoyed the open fire and hot coffee in the forest cafe afterwards, too.”

Sean concluded by expressing special thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the Saturday walks in 2022, and whom will continue to support the upcoming walks.

“Everyone is most welcome to join us for our upcoming Winter walks,” he said.

“Thanks also to everyone for supporting our recent New Year’s Day Walk.

“With more than 200 walkers in attendance for the Bessy Bell Way seven mile return trail, the event was a tremendous success for all involved.”
