‘Night at the Races’ raises over £1,200 for Alzheimer’s Society

PAUL Barrett and his family took on the challenge of organising a night at the races to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society in the run up to Christmas 2021.

The Omagh family wanted to raise funds and awareness of the work of Alzheimer’s Society as dementia is a cause close to their hearts.

The event was a huge success, with an amazing £1,220 raised for Alzheimer’s Society Northern Ireland.

Paul said, “We really enjoyed the event and are very grateful for all who supported the fundraiser and made the night such a success.

“My father is living with dementia and it was really touching to see so many family and friends join us.

“We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and support we received, and we are really proud that our efforts will help Alzheimer’s Society be there for more people affected by dementia and create a lasting change.”

Linzi Stewart, community fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Northern Ireland, said, “Following a difficult year for people with dementia, we are in awe of supporters like the Barrett family whose brilliant fundraising efforts enable us to reach more people through our vital support services, like the Dementia Connect support line.

“Our services have been used over six million times since March 2020 and have been a lifeline to thousands, but there are so many more who urgently need our help.”

She added, “There are over 22,000 people living with dementia in Northern Ireland and we are so grateful for the Barrett family whose dedication to fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society ensures that we are able to support those who need it most.”
