AN Omagh woman, whose partner was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 22 years ago, has set herself quite a ‘crunchy’ challenge to help raise money and funds for a charity that supports those with the condition.
“It might help get me into shape,” Sara Wilson joked, as she explained that she will be doing no less than 3,000 stomach crunches over the month of March in aid of ‘MS Ireland’.
The charity, which ‘enables and empowers people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS), to live the life of their choice to their fullest potential’, also offers information, vital services and support to the MS community, and provides the only national therapy centre for people with MS in Ireland.
With her daily crunch counter at the ready – she’ll certainly need it! – the local lady, who is the owner of ‘Centre Stage Theatre Company, Omagh, began her tough feat on March 1, and is slowly, but surely, getting used to completing more than 100 sit-ups per day.
“What have I let myself in for?!” Sara laughed.
“I can just about get off the floor after one, but it is for a cause so close to my heart, so I know that it will be worth it in the end.
“It also might help me get into shape!”
Concluding, Sara expressed her thanks to everyone who has donated, or will donate, to the cause.
“Thank you all so much for your support and donations,” Sara said. “I really appreciate it. Every little bit helps – and you are more than welcome to join me, if you wish!”
