Apex Dramatic Society to perform in Cookstown

THE Yellow Brick Road is set to lead to Cookstown this October as Apex Dramatic Society prepare to make their stage debut with none other than everybody’s old favourite ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

In association with Apex Music Centre, Cookstown, Apex Dramatic Society presents a fantastic performance based on the classic motion picture.

Directed by Cherie Morgan, this performance is one not to be missed for theatre lovers from Mid Ulster and beyond.

The show will host a fabulous cast of local talent including Cara O’Neill, Sophie Bann, Ethan Wilson, Eoghan O’Donnell, Sean Og Ryan, Abbie McKinless, Jamie Trainor, Cahir Quinn and many more!

Produced by Oran McGuckin, the crew also include choreographers Sofia Scullion and Lisa McDonnell, and musical director Andrea Morgan.

“As someone who grew up in Mid Ulster and benefited from opportunities in amateur theatre, it’s been great to be fit to now offer this back to our young people,” said director Cherie Morgan.

“The Wizard of Oz was the first musical I remember being obsessed with, from with colours, set and Judy Garland’s voice, so it only made sense to choose it as our first production.

“There is so much talent in Tyrone and I can’t wait for everyone to see our cast on their journey down the yellow brick road!”

Working hard behind the scenes ahead of their debut production, Producer Oran McGuckin described the Apex Dramatic Society as a “collaboration with some great people we have worked together with over the years in Apex Music Centre.”

“I am thrilled to be involved in such a great production,” he said.

“The cast and crew are working really hard behind the scenes and this will no doubt pave the way for us doing more shows throughout the years as we have some big plans in the works.

“Tickets are selling great so far, so make sure and get your seats booked today before we sell out.”

That’s right, we’re not in Kansas any more… we’re in Cookstown!

The Wizard of Oz will take to the stage in the Burnavon Theatre on October 25 with two performances from 2pm and 8pm.
