Fintona singer’s new song inspired by a special gift she received

INSPIRED by a special gift she received, Tyrone singer-songwriter Angela Reid’s has released a new song called ‘I’ll Still Be Loving You’.

Recorded in Dublin, the Fintona woman said that, to date, the song has been ‘well-received’ by everyone who has heard it.

“The song is about a watch that I received as a gift from a friend,” she explained. “It belonged to their mother 30 years ago, and one day, out of the blue, I had a flash of inspiration to write the lyrics.”

The song opens with the touching line, “I have your mother’s watch… the one you gave me, made in Dublin in 1922. Inscribed on the back in gold and silver are the loving words ‘Forever, I love you’…”

“It’s more of an Irish folk song, something a little different from the country style stuff I have recorded in the past,” said Angela.

The track has also received praise from none other than ex-Wolfe Tones singer Derek Warfield who described it as ‘beautiful’, and praised Angela for her song-writing abilities.

“To tell a story so well in song is a tough job for any balladeer,” he said.

“This is a beautiful song that gives us a great vision of a poignant time piece of history engraved with words of love that has passed through the decades.

“Angela Reid has captured the heartbreaking story of so many Irish people – but at the same time also embraces the lovely memories that comes with the sadness.”

A music video for the track, which was directed by Sean McQuaid of Roadie TV, has also been produced.

“The video depicts a scene from an Irish wake and features some of my closest friends and fellow choir members as well as my own mother, who is also called Angela,” said the singer.

Amongst those starring in the video include Paul Amison, Joe Donnelly, Emily Rush, Marie Slevin and James White.

Hair and make-up on set were provided by Lee-Anne Kelly of Chic Hair and Maria McCarney of El Amor Beauty.
