The Alley Brings an Injection of Music Into Your Home with ‘The Vaccine Sessions’
Starting this week the Alley Theatre is bringing a series of online gigs featuring the best of the North Wests musicians, bands and singer songwriters recorded on the Alley stage. The ‘Vaccine Session’ gigs will be streamed over the Alley Theatre Facebook and Youtube pages starting this Saturday 26th June at 9pm.
First up this week is Irish acoustic folk duo ‘Without Willow’ Without Willow are from Co Donegal. The pair consisting of Karen Kelly and Simon McCafferty joined forces a few years ago. Blending haunting, heartfelt vocals with virtuoso guitar playing, their distinctive sound has established them as firm favourites on the Donegal music scene.
On Saturday 3rd July its ‘Tramp’ the amazing 4 Piece Band based in Donegal/ Derry led by lead singer and guitarist Siânna Lafferty. Having been together for just over two years, their sound is a fusion of both classic and modern styles. Siânna’s strong vocals are reminiscent of 1960’s stars such as the Ronettes and the Crystals. Don’t miss their set at the start of July
The following week on the 10th July we are delighted to be streaming a set from The Heathen Choir. The Heathen Choir is an ever evolving alternative rock group led by songwriter / producer Darren Doherty (A Northern Light) With lyrics of an intensely personal nature Doherty’s long standing reputation for memorable melodies and hard hitting topics are put in the spotlight in this project like no other. Alcoholism, domestic violence and Northern Ireland’s colourful political landscape are all tackled head on with a wit and genuine earnestness reminiscent of Pink Floyds’ Roger Waters and the sadly departed Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit.
Other bands and singer songwriters coming up in July and August include Glen Rouse, Fast Thursday, Gav Kelly, Juno Hassan, Dean Maywood & Dogriver, and Morgan McDaid.
Join us every Saturday evening at 9pm on the Alley Theatre Facebook page @thealleytheatre and youtube page @alleytheatrestrabane.
