Strabane woman, Emer Maguire is set to perform in the iconic Ulster Hall later this year, for her biggest show yet.
Blending laugh out loud musical comedy, science, and Northern Irish charm, the show, In Her Element will combine Emer’s hilarious brand of musical comedy with snippets of science and fun facts, making for a truly unique performance.
Emer is a four time TEDx speaker and an international award winning science communicator. Her debut musical comedy show, Emer Maguire: Hilarious Humans, sold out its entire run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019 with unprecedented demand.
Speaking at the time, Emer said she was delighted with feedback from fans.
“I was totally overwhelmed by the response to the Belfast preview of my Edinburgh Fringe show,” she enthused. Firstly, it was amazing that the show sold out so quickly. This was my first solo comedy show so the support meant a lot to me.
“The audience gave me great feedback on the night and on social media which was a great confidence boost for taking the show to Edinburgh.”
A relative newcomer on the comedy scene, Emer is Northern Ireland’s brightest new comedy star. Described by one critic as “A figurehead for aspiring female stand ups,” Emer is also the award winning presenter of several BBC radio shows, including ‘Science and Stuff with Emer Maguire’ on BBC Radio Ulster, and ‘Where Words Fail, Music Speaks’ on BBC Radio Four.
In 2018, she won IMRO awards for Specialist Speech Broadcaster of the Year, and New Presenter of the Year. She is also co-creator, writer and presenter of the five star rated podcast ‘Elementary My Dear’ and is a regular commentator and panelist on a variety of BBC radio shows across the UK.
• In Her Element will debut at the Ulster Hall in Belfast on October 16. Tickets are available now. For more information on what she’s getting up to, check out Emer’s website at www.emermaguire.com
