OFFICIALS from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are investigating an alleged attack by dogs on a young male in the Gortin Glens.
A local social media channel claimed that a young male was walking a dog at around 5.30pm last Sunday when they were attacked by six pitbulls that were not on leads.
The animal had to be treated at the vets, while the young male also sustained injuries which required stitches.
However, the incident has not been reported to either the PSNI or the local council.
Fermanagh and Omagh Council is responsible for the popular forest park between Omagh and Gortin.
The council said that it had not been made aware of this incident.
“Officers are now actively investigating this incident and would appeal for witnesses to come forward so the owners of the dogs can be traced and appropriate actions can be taken, as required,” added a spokesperson.
“The public are reminded that dogs should be kept on leads and in control at all times in public places. It is an offence to allow any dog to attack or cause injury to a person, livestock or any other animal.”
