A NUMBER of local businesses attended an information session in the Fir Trees Hotel this week to allow them to learn more about how to successfully tender for public sector business opportunities.
Win More Business: Public Sector Procurement in Northern Ireland was hosted in Strabane as part of the Go Succeed NI initiative.
Business Officer at Derry City and Strabane District Council, Danielle McNally, said the event aimed to give local businesses an edge when bidding for public sector and big business contracts.
“Derry and Strabane’s Business team recognise that sales and procurement is a cornerstone to assisting local companies to become more competitive in both indigenous and export markets,” she said.
“For this reason, the team has developed a series of interventions with the aim of instilling the confidence, knowledge and practical skills to successfully tender for public sector and big business contracts.
“This event was attended by fledgling and seasoned professionals alike and explored the fundamentals of procurement and how to maximise public sector opportunities and increase business sales.”
Attendees heard about what tendering is, where to locate opportunities and how to maximise their score in an application so that a successful bid can be made.
The day closed with a discussion session where businesses were able to pose questions directly to the panel of experts.
