Car vandalism linked to attempted burglary in Omagh

SUBSTANTIAL damage was caused to a car parked outside a house in Omagh several days before an attempted break-in at the property, the police have revealed.

Detectives are currently probing a potential link between the two incidents in the Winters Gove area of the Hospital Road last week.

It was reported to police that, at some time between 2.30am and 3am on Friday (July 10), entry was gained to the property but nothing was believed to have been taken.

There was no damage reported to the house and a male and female were inside the property during the incident.

Several days before the attempted burglary, it had been reported that, shortly after 4.30am on Tuesday, July 7, a loud bang was heard by the occupants inside the house.

When they went outside, a brick was found beside the car parked with substantial damage reported to the bonnet, windscreen and the passenger door of the car.

Police would appeal to anyone with any information on either incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 259 10/07/20.
