CBS prepares for Reunion Gala

PREPARATIONS are in full swing for a highly anticipated Reunion Gala at Omagh CBS next month.

The excitement surrounding this event coincides with the school’s bid for Hogan Cup glory in Croke Park this weekend.

Scheduled for Friday, April 12 at the Armagh City Hotel, the Reunion Gala aims to bring together past pupils and staff members who have contributed to the school’s rich heritage since its days at Mount St Columba’s to its current location on the Kevlin Road since 1967.

It promises to be an evening of celebration, reminiscence, and reconnection, uniting former pupils and staff from diverse generations and backgrounds to share memories and achievements.

Foncy McConnell, the current principal, said, “This is a great opportunity for our past pupils and former staff to reconnect with their
school and each other, and to celebrate the achievements and contributions of the Christian Brothers community.

“You could seldom have a toothache or go to the theatre without treading on the toes of someone who has graced the halls of the Kevlin Road site.”

Mr McConnell further highlighted the diverse array of extracurricular activities and achievements that have enriched the school’s legacy.

From dramatic productions like ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ to sporting triumphs led by inspsirational figures like Terry McGurk and Brother Moroney, Omagh CBS has consistently fostered a culture of excellence and camaraderie.

He remarked, “We will acknowledge and appreciate the many excursions undertaken by students for drama, history, skiing to places ranging from Washington to Normandy, from London to Bolivia.”

These experiences, Mr McConnell noted, have not only broadened students’ horizons but also instilled in them a sense of adventure and cultural appreciation.
