Community comes together to help save Micah

THE local community is rallying around ‘Micah’ a much loved Husky who needs life saving treatment.

Four-year-old Micah belongs to Strabane man Andrew ‘Pugey’ McGillian, and she was recently diagnosed with a Glioma brain tumour and a nasal cavity tumour.

Following her diagnosis, Micah spent two nights in Belfast undergoing several scans and the family were hoping to take Micah to England to a vet who might be able to help. She now has one more vet to see, and Pugey has already spent over £3,000 on Micah’s treatment, but more money is needed to try and save Micah’s life.

Pugey has said he is heartbroken and devastated over the sad news, but added that his dogs are his life and he is determined to save Micah.

The family have set up a fund-raising page on Facebook, designed tins which will be placed in premises across Strabane and are organising events to raise funds.

Speaking to the Chronicle, they said, “The generosity of the public has been brilliant. We cannot get over it.
“Businesses have donated to us for a raffle at the wax day, and we are very appreciative to anyone who can help us.”

A waxing event has now been organised for February 1 from 4-6pm at Fountain Street Community Centre.

There will be a raffle on the day and the event is free to the public, but donations will be accepted.
