Funeral of popular Aghyaran woman to take place tomorrow

THE funeral of the “widely known” and “respected” member of the Killeter community, Emma Lynch who died suddenly at the weekend will take place tomorrow (Friday) at St Patrick’s Church, Aghyaran.

Ms Lynch passed away following what is being described as a tragic accident, in the early hours of St Patrick’s Day. She was a member of St Davog’s GAC in Aghyaran and played for the ladies football team.

Derg councillor Caroline Devine who is a family friend said the entire local area is saddened by the death.

Cllr Devine said, “The whole community is shocked and saddened by this tragic accident. There is a dark cloud hanging over the area. The Lynch family are widely known and respected in our community. Emma was a young woman so full of life and fun and she had many friends. She was a former player for St Davog’s GAC and was part of a team that had a very strong bond.

“Emma will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. I want to extend my sympathies to her family and friends at this very difficult time. Aghyaran is a tight-knit community and we will do everything we can to support Emma’s family and friends in the coming days and months.”

The funeral will take place at 12pm in St Patrick’s Church, Aghyaran. Interment afterward in the adjoining Churchyard.
