Further 18 coronavirus deaths in the north

Eighteen more people have died from Covid-19 in the North.

In their daily report, the PHA has also announced a further 137 positive cases of the coronavirus across the north putting the total number of cases now at 2,338.

A further 18 deaths due to the disease have been reported across the north.

In Fermanagh and Omagh, the number of positive cases remains at 61 for April 16, the same number as previous two days.

There are 119 positive cases in Mid Ulster and 146 in Derry City and Strabane District Council area.

A total of 15,025 people have been tested for the virus in Northern Ireland.

Earlier today, new figures released include deaths outside a hospital setting and, as of week ending April 10, saw the total number of fatalities in the North rise by 39 deaths to 157.

The figures published today by NISRA (Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency) show that of the 157 deaths involving coronavirus, 109 (69 per-cent) occurred in hospital, 41 (26 per-cent) occurred in care homes and hospices and seven (four per-cent ) occurred at private addresses.
