A PROPOSAL to construct for 44 new homes in the Fintona area and a further cluster of six dwellings in the Gorticashel Road area of Glenhull have this week been given the green light by planning officials.
The development near Greencastle is earmarked to include six single storey and two more two-storey homes, with a large degree of what’s described as ‘buffer planting’ along the boundaries of the Claghan and Farm-style dwellings.
The application has been made by Stephen McGurk from Camcosy Road and the architect for the 1.7 hecture site is McCarter and Hamill Architects from Dungannon.
Permission to go ahead with the development of differently styled rural housing types was first in 2018, and was officially given the green light by Fermanagh and Omagh Council at their recent Planning committee meeting.
Also given the go ahead was the plan for 38 new houses for Conkir Developments Ltd, who are based in Ballygawley.
They are hoping to construct the housing development consisting of 38 two storey semi-detached homes and six two-storey detached houses on a site opposite the Craigavon Road in Fintona.
Each of the homes will either have three or four bedrooms and the company believes that they will address a need for more new houses in the Fintona area.
The site is close to the Craigavon Road and Tattyreagh Road and is 1.9 hectares in size.
The application was also submitted in 2-18, but was only passed at the recent Planning meeting of the Council despite having been previously recommended for approval before the COVID-19 restrictions were imposed.
In a separate development, planning permission has also been granted for the opening of a new pizza parlour on Main Street in Beragh, on premises which have been empty for a number of years having previously been a pool hall and shop.
