HAMPERS filled with sweets, choccies, treats and goodies have brought smiles to the faces of Omagh’s hard-working care workers.
The gift extravaganza was organised by the ‘Doing It For Dom Foundation’, who recently delivered the large and jam-packed hampers to ten care homes across the town.
Chairperson of the charity, Danielle Earley said they simply wanted to “give something back” to local key workers who do incredible work every single day… And it’s safe to say that the staffers were all very excited when presented with their gifts!
“The gesture brought our care workers such delight,” remarked Danielle, who is a care worker herself.
“We knew that they had all been having a very hard and busy time since the outbreak of Covid-19, and we just wanted them to know that they hadn’t been forgotten about.
“Usually, every year, we give a grant to a local student to help them with their studies, but this year, with schools being cancelled, we thought that local care workers could really benefit from a wee pick-me-up.”
The hampers, which were funded using the money raised during past events, including a mountain climb and a poker night, featured everything from sweets to biscuits, lollipops to chocolates – and even tasty fresh fruits to help care workers stay healthy!
“They were very appreciative and excited,” Danielle continued.
“The hampers really did brighten up their day, and it was just out our little way of saying a big thank you for all the incredible work that they do.”
Danielle concluded by expressing her thanks to everyone who has supported the charity over the years.
‘Doing It For Dom’ was set-up to keep the memory of Dom Earley alive, following his sad death on June 3, 2017.
