Deaths of two well-known Tyrone men

TRIBUTES have been paid on the deaths of two well-known Tyrone men.

Pat Cleary, who has been a highly respected tailor in Omagh for over 50 years, died yesterday (Friday).

He was also well-known as a Pipe Major, and one of his proudest moments was when he led the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, at a special reception in Drumragh GAA grounds several years ago.

Mr Cleary’s burial took place today (Saturday) at St Mary’s Cemetery, Drumragh. A memorial service will take place at a later date.

Frank Quinn, from Pomeroy, a well-known publican and businessman in Dublin for many years, died on Thursday.

He had a keen interest in gaelic games and was a prominent member of the Tyrone Association in Dublin, which has paid tribute to him. He was a well-known athlete and, along with his three brothers, Mick, Brian and Sean, ran the New York Marathon on two occasions.

Mr Quinn’s funeral will be streamed live from the Church of the Assumption, Pomeroy, on Easter Monday, April 13 at 11am. A memorial service will also take place at a later date.
