Eglish GAA player tests positive for coronavirus

A SENIOR player with the Eglish GAA club has tested positive for coronavirus following their game in the opening round of the Tyrone All-County League on Sunday.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the committee of St Patrick’s club has said it was made aware of the positive result from a member of its senior team.

“As a result, the club have suspended all activity in all age groups and codes. The committee have informed CLG Tir Eoghain and Pairc An Chrocaigh and will be acting on the guidelines issues by CLG Tir Eoghain.

“The club has at all times since resuming activities adhered to GAA and Public Health guidelines and regards the health and well being of our members and community as paramount in everything we do.”

Eglish’s first game of the season was a derby tie against Aghaloo in Eglish at the weekend. Aghaloo, who have just been promoted from Junior ranks, caused a surprise by emerging with the points.

It is expected that they, too, will suspend all activities in light of the positive result.

Both clubs had been due to take part in U-16 and Minor games this week.
