A SHED fire in Omagh that also damaged nearby houses and cars is being treated as a suspected arson attack, the PSNI have revealed.
Police say they received a report of a shed on fire at a property in Winters Grove, off Hospital Road, at around 3.50am yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
“The fire spread from the shed to cause damage to windows, doors and guttering of two neighbouring houses and two cars parked in the driveways,” a PSNI spokesperson said.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said that two fire appliances from the Omagh station were tasked to the scene.
It took firefighters wearing breathing apparatus just over an hour to extinguish the fire. They used two hose reel jets.
An NIFRS spokesperson said, “The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate ignition.”
Detectives are appealing for information about the suspected arson attack.
A PSNI spokesperson said, “Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the incident or in the preceding days is asked to contact detectives in Omagh on 101 quoting reference number 155 08/04/20.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100 per-cent anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
