THE Western Trust us urgently calling for more foster carers in order to help look after highest number of children living in care that the area has ever seen.
People across the county are being asked to consider making a difference to the lives of children and young people, as 712 currently find themselves within the care system.
“More foster carers are needed so children can be placed with families where they can be safe, nurtured and loved,” said a Western Trust spokesperson.
Those with any inclination are being invited to attend Omagh Fire Station on the Killybrack Road, Thursday, April 11, from 7.30 to 9pm.
Over this hour-and-a-half session, local people will get the chance to find out more about how they can make a difference to a child’s life through fostering.
“There are lots of ways you can help depending on your lifestyle and circumstances.
“Whether you can offer a child a loving home for the short or long term, or provide short breaks both for planned and emergency situations, you can make a valuable impact on a child’s life.”
At the event you can talk to staff from the fostering team who can answer any questions you may have; speak with foster carers who will share their inspiring stories of caring; and find out more about what can work for you, be it short breaks, emergency, short-term and long-term foster care.
