Majority of local COVID cases in 20-39 and 40-59 groups

PEOPLE in the 20-39 and the 40-59 age groups in Tyrone accounted for the vast majority of coronavirus positive cases in Tyrone during the past week.

Figures released by the Department for Health this afternoon show that in the three district council areas of Mid-Ulster, Fermanagh and Omagh and Derry City and Strabane, the largest number of positive cases were in these two age categories.

In Fermanagh and Omagh, there were 99 positive cases in people aged from 20-39 and 93 among those aged 40-59.

But in Mid-Ulster, there were 301 positive cases among those aged 20-39 and 248 among those aged 40-59, while in Derry City and Strabane, there were 303 and 249 in the two age categories respectively.

The figures also show relatively low numbers among those over 60 and over 80. In Fermanagh and Omagh, there were 77 cases in these two age groups in the past week, the figure is 147 for Mid-Ulster and 154 in Derry City and Strabane.

Overall, for the past 24 hours up until midnight on October 25, there were 25 new positive cases in Fermanagh and Omagh, 97 in Mid-Ulster and 77 in Derry City and Strabane.
