TYRONE’S best-known independent motor retailer has closed its car dealership in Omagh on a permanent basis, it has been confirmed.
The family-owned Donnelly Group said that it had taken the difficult decision to cease trading from its Dromore Road premises after “careful consideration and following a strategic review”.
A spokesperson for the Dungannon-based firm said, “We are currently in consultation with our employees.”
The well-known motoring company, which has locations across the North, had acquired the Omagh Vauxhall showroom in 2016 from Gormley Motors.
On March 24 this year, the Donnelly Group temporarily closed its sites, including Omagh, as the Covid-19 pandemic escalated.
Although the Northern Ireland Executive has given the go-ahead for car showrooms to reopen from today (Monday), the Dromore Road dealership will remain shut.
Confirming the decision on Friday afternoon, the Donnelly Group said it appreciated the support of all its customers in the Omagh area over the last number of years.
The firm’s spokesperson said, “The Vauxhall Sales and Aftersales operations will be consolidated into the Dungannon Vauxhall business and the Motorstore used vehicle businesses in both Dungannon and Enniskillen will continue to serve the Omagh area.”
The spokesperson added, “Should our customers have any queries they can contact the team at their most convenient location in Dungannon or Enniskillen.”
