Mountfield kids lobby politicians for play facilities

THE children of Mountfield have got together to lobby their local politicians for improvements to local play park facilities.

A total of 142 signatures were obtained by the young people, who are hoping that their appeal for a new trampoline will be met with a positive response from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

Local resident, Andrina Balogh praised the ‘amazing initiative’ taken by the children who were visited by Sinn Fein’s Declan McAleer MLA and Cllr Padraigin Kelly.

“The children spent an evening cleaning up the park for the politicians’ arrival. There was a lot of excitment and to see them so proactive and full of enthusiasm is really great,” she said.

“All they want is a new amenities like a trampoline and proper swings for the older children.”

Declan McAleer MLA said the children had some fantastic ideas on their list, adding, “We have a bit of work to do in delivering for these young citizens.”

Cllr Kelly described the youngsters as ‘a credit to their parents, families, school and community’.

“I will do absolutely everything in my power to make their dreams a reality. Our young people have the power to change the world,” said Cllr Kelly.
