THE newly-appointed principal of Sacred Heart College will take up the role in April, it has been announced.
Drumquin man, Michael Gormley, is due to start at the Omagh post-primary school on Monday, April 12, just after the Easter holidays.
Mr Gormley’s appointment as Sacred Heart’s new principal was announced by the school on its Facebook page last Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the school said, “The whole college community looks forward to working with Mr Gormley in the delivery of an excellent education to our pupils.”
The Drumquin man has been principal of St Patrick’s College in Dungiven for the past number of years.
He is a past pupil of St Patrick’s High School in Omagh, which amalgamated with St Brigid’s High School in 2000 to form Sacred Heart College.
Mr Gormley replaces Sinead McAllister, who became the college’s first-ever female principal when appointed in September 2016.
The Co Derry woman left last November to take up a new role at the helm of St Colm’s High School in Draperstown.
In the interim period, Celia McGinn has been serving as acting principal at Sacred Heart.
