SINN Fein has appointed its new MLA for West Tyrone following the resignation a week ago of Catherine Kelly.
Nicola Brogan, from Lislap, has been co-opted to he post and says she is welcoming the opportunity to ‘serve the people of West Tyrone’ alongside her party colleagues.
A former pupil of Loreto Convent in Omagh, she is a graduate of Politics and Criminology from the University of Ulster. She has spent time in Australia, before returning home and has recently been managing a health care practise.
Her appointment will now go to the party’s Ard Comhairle for ratification.
Among her interests are the development of the Irish language and she hopes to promote a more widespread uptake among both adults and children.
“I want to thank Sinn Féin members in West Tyrone for selecting me to go forward for co-option to the Assembly,” she said.
” I look forward to playing my part in standing up for workers and families and creating a new Ireand for all.”
