Omagh couple celebrate 60 years of marriage

AN Omagh couple celebrating 60 years of marriage have received a special message of congratulations from the Queen.

Jim and Roberta Alderdice, who live in Kylemore Gardens, were married in Poyntzpass Presbyterian Church on January 20, 1961.

Jim’s brother, Archie, who lives in Kilkeel, was best man, while Roberta’s sister Jean, who lives in Australia, was bridesmaid.

The reception was held in the Carlton, Portadown, followed by their honeymoon in Dublin.

Jim’s work brought them to County Tyrone in 1961. They initially lived in Dromore before moving to Trillick and then settling in Omagh in 1970, where they have lived ever since.

The couple have six children, Robert, Lorna, Andrew, David, Glenn and Louise, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
