Omagh road remains closed after falling tree causes bus shelter to collapse

THE Hospital Road in Omagh remains closed in both directions this afternoon after a fallen tree caused extensive damage to a bus shelter.

Police are advising motorists to seek an alternative route after one of the large trees at the front of the site of the old Tyrone County Hospital fell down earlier today.

A PSNI spokesperson said, “The Hospital Road in Omagh is closed in both directions due to a fallen tree. Please seek an alternative route for your journey.

“Motorists are further advised to exercise caution in the Omagh area as winds are high and there may be more traffic disruption.”

At this stage, it is not believed that there were any injuries when the tree caused the bus shelter to collapse.

It is understood that work is underway to remove the tree that is blocking the road.
