A PUBLIC consultation event on plans by a rural GAA club in Tyrone to construct new training facilities for youth and adult members is to take place early next month.
Beragh Red Knights GAA is hoping to construct a training pitch and ancilliary amenities on the Radergan Road just outside the village.
The training pitch is planned to be 80 metres wide by 130 metres long.
The consultation event has been scheduled to take place in the Cornerstone Centre, Beragh on Wednesday, September 4 from 5pm to 7pm.
A planning application for the new training pitch was recently submitted to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, who will decide on whether or not it is given the go-ahead.
At the moment, the club has its main base at St Mary’s Park, several hundred yards from where the new facilities would be based if the plans are granted approval.
The Beragh club currently has a main pitch and a smaller training pitch at its ground, which this year celebrated 50 years since being extensively re-developed in 1974.
The existing pitch was first purchased by the GAA in Beragh 70 years ago in 1954.
In addition to the training pitch, the plans for the facilities also include car parking and lighting.
Representations in relation to the proposed new development can be made to Les Ross Planning up until September 20.
If the proposal is approved, it would be the second sports facility on the rural Radergan Road. At the opposite end of the road, about four miles from Beragh’s proposal, is the Tyrone GAA Centre at Garvaghy.
