Residents of Railway Court star in new video

RESIDENTS at Railway Court in Omagh have become stars with a new video showing how they are coping amid Covid-19 outbreak.

Families and friends are no longer allowed to visit the facility on the Dromore Road so staff have been helping residents fill their days with loads of activities, fun and games.

Staff at the home compiled a lovely video of the supported living scheme for those with learning disabilities showing all the activities they have been doing which gave the families peace of mind that their loved ones are content.

Mairead Brogan, manager of Railway Court, said both the residents and their families were delighted with the video.

“One of the senior support workers Claire Rainey put the video all together from pictures and videos we had taken.

“All of our staff were involved in taking pictures and doing the activities and then Claire put the video together.”

“It is lovely and the families really appreciated it.

“They got to see what their family members are doing because they are probably wondering how they are spending the day so it is nice for people to see what is going on inside Railway Court.”

“It is a worrying time for everyone.

“We just don’t know when this is going to end but thankfully this video brought some happiness to our residents and their families.”

Since the restrictions were put in place, the residents have celebrated birthdays, completed arts and crafts, spring cleaned and played games.”

Mairead continued, “We have been taking the residents out for walks and doing a lot of activities to keep them busy and make the day a bit more interesting for them.

“The good weather has made such a difference.”

“All the residents are doing well.

“They miss their families and going out at the weekend but the families are very good.

“They are always ringing in, Facetiming and sending texts so it was nice for them to see their family members happy.”
