Suspected drink driver arrested after public intervention

A SUSPECTED drink driver in Dungannon was arrested after members of the public intervened.

The arrest follows reports to police concerning the driver of a Toyota Celica in Dungannon on November 13.

A police spokesperson explained, “Officers in Dungannon received reports about a suspected drunk driver travelling in a silver coloured Toyota Celica on the Ballygawley Road, Dungannon, before turning onto the Old Caulfield Road. The vehicle then entered Glebe Mews, where it came to a stop.

“Quick-thinking members of the public removed the keys from the vehicle and kept the driver under observation as he walked off on foot.
“The individual was subsequently arrested and charged with a number of offences and will be appearing at court this weekend.
“We are appealing for witnesses, as well as anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage, to make contact on 101 quoting reference number 1256 of 13/11/2025.
“Police would like to thank the members of the public whose swift actions no doubt helped prevent further harm and danger.”
