Two Omagh Grammar schools drop transfer tests for 2021

CHRISTIAN Brothers’ Grammar School and Loreto Grammar School will not use transfer tests to select pupils for September 2021.

The two Omagh schools released a joint statement this afternoon (Friday) confirming the decision to abandon the use of the transfer test for Primary Six pupils seeking admission to the schools for September 2021.

The statement signed by the Board of Governors from both schools said, “In light of the unique circumstances presented by the impact of Covid 19, and for one year only, the Boards of Governors of the Christian Brothers’ Grammar School Omagh and Loreto Grammar School will not use academic selection criteria or a Transfer assessment for pupils wishing to gain admission to Year 8 in September 2021.

“Our schools will review and publish admissions criteria in the Winter term in line with the timetable for Post Primary Transfer 2021 published by the Education Authority.

“This step should help to reduce some immediate concerns in education at this time for Primary 6 pupils, their parents and staff in Primary schools in this area.”
