OMAGH Accies will be hosting the second Beastie Bowl this coming Saturday.
The Beastie Bowl was inaugurated in 2019 in memory of Kenny McEwan, a legend of both NIFRS and Omagh Accies, who passed away far too young from Oesophageal Cancer in 2018.
A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Select XV will take on an Omagh Accies Select XV ahead of the Accies’ Senior Cup game against Rainey Old Boys that afternoon. The game will kick-off at 11:45am
Kenny captained the Omagh Academy side that got to the 1985 Schools’ Cup Final against Mark McCall’s Bangor GS.
Once again a large contingent of his former colleagues from the NIFRS are planning to make the trip to Omagh for what is sure to be another great day.
Funds raised on the day will be donated to two charities close to the McEwan family, namely the Macmillan Cancer Unit at Antrim Area Hospital and Oesophageal Cancer NI.
The Accies won the inaugural memorial game 22-17 when some old hands made an appearance – some very brief! – for both sides.
