An Charraig Mhor 2-13 St Eunan’s 0-5
The St Colmcille girls produced an impressive display to see off St Eunan’s on Sunday and reach the Ulster U-18 championship semi-final in the process.
Success at county level led to a first round Ulster victory over Killygally(5-10 to 0-8) and that in turn paved the way for Sunday’s quarter-final contest for An Charraig Mhor with the Donegal representatives St Eunan’s.
Maeve McCrystal and Sorcha Gormley sent over early points as An Charraig Mhor settled into the tie well, Gormley adding a further two points before McCrystal extended the Tyrone team’s advantage.
Clodagh Munroe joined the scoring list with a point, as did Alanagh McCallan. Sorcha Gormley(0-2) and Maeve McCrystal wrapped up a pleasing first half for the Carmen girls who faced the second 30 minutes leading 0-10 to 0-3.
St Eunan’s started the last half endeavouring to reel back the deficit but An Charraig Mhor harboured other ideas and the St Colmcille defence held firm when called upon.
Additionally, a Sorcha Gormley point preceded the game’s opening goal that was finished to the net by Siofra Loughran to give the St Colmcille’s a 1-11 to 0-3 cushion.
Clodagh Munroe then netted a second goal for the Tyrone side who latter tagged on closing scores through Sorcha Gormley(0-2). St Eunan’s subsequently notched a couple of consolation scores.
An Charraig Mhor now meet Moneyglass St Ergnat’s this Sunday(1.00pm) at Ahoghill St Mary’s Park after the Antrim team turned in a high-scoring quarter-final win over Burren(10-15 to 0-7). It promises to be quite a tussle as the St Colmcille girls try to reach the Ulster decider.
