Double swoop makes it a high five for Swifts

Dungannon Swifts have bolstered their attack with the double swoop of Rory Patterson and Nathaniel Ferris.

Ferris, 22,  joins on loan from Championship outfit, Loughgall United while former Plymouth Argyle, Coleraine, Glentoran and Crusaders striker Patterson has signed professional forms, having mostly recently been on the books of Belfast Celtic.

The late arrival of Strabane man Patterson, 36, and Ferris brings to five the number of players that manager Kris Lindsay ha signed in a busy transfer window.

At the weekend Swifts signed ex-Manchester United goalkeeper and former Northern Ireland international Roy Carroll and prior to that snapped up the Ballinamallard United pair of Ryan Mayse and Matty Smyth.

Dungannon have lacked goals this season, scoring just seven in 13 league games, and Lindsay believes the arrival of Patterson and Ferris will go some way to addressing the shortfall.

“Both lads are proven goalscorers, albeit at different ends of their career. I think both will bring something different to us in attacking areas,” he said.

Lindsay has meanwhile confirmed that 43-year-old Carroll will start in goal tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at Ballymena United.
