EOIN Kelly is the toast of Errigal Ciaran this evening thanks to a dramatic last gasp winning point which saw them just edge out Dromore in this Tyrone Senior Quarter Final.
It was an exciting finale to a clash that bubbled and boiled throughout. But ultimately, the Dunmoyle-based side got the scores that mattered, with Peter Harte grabbing an equaliser and then Kelly firing over the winner from the very next play deep in added time.
For Dromore, though, the result will be another bitter disappointment. They contributed richly to the clash which provided the perfect climax to a feast of football over the weekend.
The St Dympna’s led by 0-6 to 0-4 at half-time, with Nathan McCarron and Peter Teague doing well in defence and Sean McNabb, Niall Sludden and Eoin McCusker leading the way up front.
But they were pegged back early on the resumption during a very tight second half. The teams were level seven times over the course of the hour, and there was never more than a point separating them in that final period.
Time and again, Niall Sludden, Eoin McCusker, Sean McDonnell and Ronan McNabb edged Dromore ahead, only to see Ben McDonnell, Peter Harte and Cormac Quinn respond for Errigal, before Peter Harte’s equaliser and Eoin Kelly’s winner finally got them over the line.
