Tyrone set for Ulster Champions in first round of All-Ireland SFC

By Niall Gartland

TYRONE are potentially be in line for another crack at Armagh in the first-round of the upcoming All-Ireland Round Robin series, following this afternoon’s draw.

The Red Hands have turned their focus to the round of 16 following last weekend’s Ulster Championship semi-final exit at the hands of Kieran McGeeney’s side – and they will take the winners of Saturday week’s provincial showdown between Armagh and Donegal in their round robin opener on the weekend of May 24/25.

That match will be played away from home, though on the following weekend Malachy O’Rourke’s side will host the losers of the Connacht final between Mayo and Galway.

In their third and final round robin match, Tyrone will take on Cavan at a neutral venue on the weekend of June 14/15 in a repeat of their recent Ulster Championship quarter-final clash, which the Red Hands won on a scoreline of 1-24 to 0-20.

The schedule is as follows

Round One: Winners of Armagh or Donegal away from home on May 24 or 25

Round Two: Losers of Galway and Mayo at Healy Park on May 31

June 1 Round Three: Cavan at a neutral venue on June 14 or 15
